Zitar is a modern Indian instrument inspired from the classic Sitar, which has been used by Indian Goddesses since mankind. Our incredible and mystic India has deep rooted cultural influences in all that we do, including our cuisine. There are strong healthy and scientific influences in our age old recopies.
Zitar tries to decipher the Indian kitchen magic, analyse it, deconstruct it, tone it, enhance it, and re assemble it in a way which is innovative and modern. We have taken ancient recipes across India and have ensured that only the best ingredients and the same age old techniques are used to cook it. But at Zitar we love to experiment, hence our chefs are let loose and they whip out some amazing concoctions and voila! We have a dish which is not only authentic, traditional and exotic in taste but also modern, eclectic and vibrant in the way it is presented. Our efforts have been simple â âto make it look beautifulâ
The Indian food around the world has been extremely popular and did not go through any change for centuries, only in the last decade have chefs in London dabbling with the idea of how to present Indian food in a modern fashion. As everything evolves around us, so has the regional cuisine in our country. Where else would you think of having a chutney mousse with pappadums cut like lavash and stuck in to the green mint mousse, or mutton bhuna in a flaky parantha dough baked in an oven as a stuffing.
Here at Zitar we focus on the authenticity of the taste, try and present it beautifully and while our guests do that, we conjure up an exciting cocktail menu to compliment the food. Then, we donât leave it there, we get the best music with strong modern sound influences, call a guest DJ on Fridays to kick off the perfect weekend.
Located at Powai in Mumbai, Zitar is best known for Asian, Buffet, Pakistani, Indian, Sandwiches, Seafood, Vegetarian.
